Signs your immigrant parents aren't quite assimilated

Today is package day! The wonderful, sweet time in a volunteer's life when he gets a box sent from home with all of the creature comforts of home.
This particular package comes care of sweet old dear mother. She had mentioned sending this package back in January, so my receiving it today means that the package was obviously sent by yak.

Regardless of the delay, it's still nice to get something once in awhile. Let's open'er up!
First is a very nice sweater from Banana Republic, thanks sis!

Bonanza! Long missed foods, like Korean Chachianmeoyong (Black Bean Sauce Noodles), Pasta Roni and Wheat Thins! Joy! Let's continue...
MMM! A bottle of rice wine, long desired. Time to make sushi. But wait... what's this? That red package looks oddly familiar...
WTF?!

Pup-peroni. Dog food.
DOG FOOD.

My mother spent $53.95 on a package that was shipped over from halfway across the world by the slowest method of transport known to modern man to send me dog food. I DON'T HAVE A DOG. Obviously she was just looking through the pantry in the house for things to throw into the package and probably thought it was beef jerky or something.

The kicker?

She sent me not 1, but 3 packages of beef flavored dog snacks. Now I've got enough to share with friends!
Thanks mom! Nutritious AND Fun!

News Update: Turns out it was Dad.

Hi Jay,
I'm a PCV in Kyrgyzstan. Two of us are traveling to Almaty in July for 5 days to take the GRE. I was wondering where a good cheap place to stay is. I was hoping for a homestay or B&B. Any suggestions?
